Eastern Front 1916-1917 Patch The war in the East did not involve as many planes as did the Western Front, in fact, the planes usually were 6 months to a year behind the Western front. Castoffs were common, like the SSW D1 ( a nieuport clone), the SPAD A2, the Roland D2, and others which had been long removed from the skies over France.

The Russian Revolution took Russia out of the war in Dec 1917, although German and Austrian aviation units were still stationed there until the end of the war(just to keep an eye on things)

Installing

Use the Campaign manager to install this patch.

IMPORTANT NOTE-several types had skis attached instead of wheels during the winter so I have set it up so that the players can also fly with skis. When you initially install the patch you'll need to install the wheeled patch on top of the Russian Front patch- this allows you to fly the Moranes and Sikorskis with wheels.During the winter months you'll have to uninstall the wheeled patch and install the ski patch -this should be done December 1916 through February 1917, once the winter tiles disappear and they turn to spring-then uninstall the ski patch and reinstall the wheeled patch. If you don't want skis at all then just install the wheeled patch when you first install the main patch and that's it

Playing the Game-Keeping it Historical

When the game time gets to the end of Dec 1917, use the campaign manager to adavance the date to Nov 20 1918, that way the war will end

IMPORTANT NOTE-THERE AR NO US SQUADS
Germans are Austrian or German
French are Russians
British are French and Romanian

Transferring to the Italian Front

Only possible as Austro-German

Transfer to the transfer unit after Sept 1917
Uninstall the Russian Patch- install the Italian patch then you can transfer out of the transfer squad
You'll need the new Italian squad assignment patch as well

Many thanks go to the various modellers of SWISSA, ie Uhlan, Beck, Charles de Thielt, Hobbes, Zsolt Fazekas, and Wingstrut without whose excellent new models this patch would be incomplete!
