The second Zepplin hanger is finished, this time I used the generic gray balloon. I have to admit I like the looks of this one just a little better.

Now comes something really Cool! You need someplace to park these big ol gas bags right? What better place then a Zepplin Hanger. I pulled the bmps from the RB.vol file (I'll make a page with instructions) and built the hanger you see in a couple of hours. It looked really empty, so I decided to go ahead do some interior decorating. The zip files are posted for downloading now.

Now we have a generic brown balloon based on the German Observation balloon. This file set is named to replace the small hanger.

Alright! This is it, I repainted the gray balloon to strike out any markings so it can be used on both sides of the line without looking too out of place. The file can be renamed to replace almost any ground object you like so have fun.

Now this is better! The balloon has been resized to twice it's previous dimensions. Not only does it look about right, it fits the size of the old hangers hit box better.

Being the chef I am I thought I might throw in some desert for you guys, so here is a snapshot of my first test run replacing the Large Hanger with an Observation Balloon. They need to be a little bigger and maybe a little higher off the ground so that's next.

In just a matter of minutes I cooked up this little number. This screenshot was taken in MMP Solo where I've managed to replace an existing ground object with a completely new graphic. I've redesigned the plane shown here to a more generic look so that it doesn't appear out of place on either side of the front. With this first step I intend to create a small line of replacement objects that can be used by patch makers to enhance their online war scenerios. Like most of my work I'll explain how it was done so that just about anyone can do the same.
The plane is a stock medium resolution 3D model ( you can find the whole line at Flybert's Chateu), the ground object it's replacing is the green tent. I renamed the dts/dml file set of the to the default name of the green tent and this is what happened! Be aware that using a Max resolution 3ds file will cause a DTD as RB can't handle the damage values of the High resolution model. What this means is that we can quickly and easily replace just about any standard ground object with something more to our liking.
